give it time?

by:

So I got a bid from a top tier house and took it. They were my number one and I had a middle tier as my number two. I thought I would've been happy at both of them and kinda put the one I'm in now as my number one for superficial reasons. The girls are all great and I'm gonna wait it out but idk. I didnt know anyone in my pledge class before hand and I'm wondering how long it takes to have it feel like home. Obviously there's a reason they picked me so should I just give it time? What should I do to make more friends and connections?

Just give it time. You have probably 6-8 weeks before initiation. If you still don't feel at home, you can rerush. Go to all the events that you can, get girls' numbers and make plans outside of the sorority, join any Facebook/social media groups there may be, look around your classes for girls with your sorority's letters and sit next to them, etc. I hope it works out for you!

give it time. A lot of times so many girls in pledge class already know each other so it makes it difficult to bond when there's already little cliques. But time changes those cliques because those girls need to lean on each other through the bonding process too. So do EVERYTHING you can possible do. From lunch at the house, going out, find girls in your dorm. Make sure you live in next year. Try your best to get out of any housing that you might have. Tell what ever active that you know that you would like some help they can help introduce you to others. Don't give up if you make the most of it, you will call it your home. Good Luck.

Yes, it's good to give it time... but also don't be afraid to re-rush if you think you are a better fit in that #2 house. Stay in touch with friends you've made at that second choice, and see how they treat you now that recruitment is over. If they feel more welcoming and more of your kind of sisterhood than the chapter you're in now, it might be a good idea to give it a shot next year

it can be so awkward the first week. but don't give up yet! go to everything you can and reach out to as many people possible. you should have a bid day buddy or something and ask them for advice. offer to go out to dinner with people in your pledge class. don't drop right away before you give it a solid chance

I did the same thing and was just so excited to be offered a bid in a top tier. I'm sure i'll form a deeper connection with some of the girls with time. it's just right now the overall vibe is kind of fake and awkward. I appreciate the bid but I'm hoping I didn't make a mistake

I also had a tough choice between my top two and sometimes wonder if I made the right choice. You're not alone :)

Looking back, my bid day was so awkward and uncomfortable. As were the first few meetings. But you'll find your place.
