rushing
by: QuestionAs a guy, how many houses should I rush? I kind of narrowed it down to 5 houses but it's probably a lot to look at in a short period of time. I just really want to find a place and get a bid as well.

ATO and Pike pretty much bid anyone with a pulse so if you want a for sure thing might as well go there

Stick to those three. As long as your not a complete weirdo you're going to get a bid. The other two (delt and sae) are much more competitive.

No matter what people say, all of the houses you listed are solid houses. That being said, they are different. As said, Delt and SAE are considered more competitive than the others you listed. If I were you I would check out the ones you are interested in the first couple of days then narrow down to your top 2 so you can get to know the guys and hopefully get a bid.

Every house has a rush chair and rush committee. Find out who those brothers are and make sure to talk to them. Those are the brothers who make the decisions about who get bids. Find the brothers you connect with and make sure you say what's up to them so they know you are at the rush events. Those who know you the best will be able to vouch for you if the fraternity thinks you are a good fit.

first day go to as many as possible, you will know almost immediately if you like the place or not based on the guys you talk to. to be honest, if they don't like you they will either avoid talking to you, make excuses to leave the conversation, or be just rude. second day you should continue going to your top 3 or so, and by day 3 you should have 2 in mind that you would want to join, and probably a top choice. a good indicator in the best 4-5 houses if they like you is if they invite you out with them to drink, or personally are reaching out to you, or if a guy on the rush committee has been rushing you hard core and introduces you to brothers, if that isn't happening late in the game, move on

How can they just know they don't like you or think you're not a right fit immediately when you meet them?

If you show up dressed like a complete try hard to somewhere thats not Kappa Sig or Pike, they probably wont like you
If you show up in a muscle shirt to anywhere but TKE and Kappa Sig, they probably wont like you
If you've been around this semester but been a prude at blocks/parties, they probably wont like you
If you act like you're better than any of the brothers or other rushes, they probably wont like you

I liked ATO, Pike, Phi Delt, Delt, and SAE. If I had to down it to just 3 it'd be ATO, Pike, and probably Phi Delt. I just don't wanna like either overstretch myself and then end up with no bid or make my scope too small and not get a bid or somethin
