So I just wanted to share a little story as a warning to other PNMs...
I work retail and today a girl came in with OSU clothing so I asked if she was a student. She told me she was a freshman and I asked how she was enjoying it and told her I was a student there too. She told me she liked it and that she was about to rush next semester and was really excited about it. Then, I told her I was in XYZ sorority (unfortunately mine is usually considered in one of the lower tiers). She gave me a smirk and then said, "well I wouldn't accept a bid from anyone lower than chi o or tri delt so idk if I'll be seeing you around". I was utterly in shock. No one, especially a new girl, had said ANYTHING like that to me to my face before.
Keep in mind (other than keeping an open mind) that people have friends IN OTHER CHAPTERS. If you say something so blatantly rude, disrespectful, and unpanhellenic, they WILL hear about it. Some of my best friends are upperclassmen or on exec in their top tier/upper mid sororities, and let me just say they do not respect people with a mindset like you so don't get your hopes up sweetie

I know my chapter would not want someone that mean. Better to cut her early and not waste our time talking with her.
If you don't have her name, any other specific identifying information (home town, major, the store where she was shopping when she made this comment)?

yea this is such a sad story and whatever but how is it different from all the hate on this site? dont blackball her for being snooty because i know for a fact that there are girls in greeklife that actually feel this way. if you dont like her, dont bid her but going out of your way to mess up her life because she offended you is petty.

I'm seriously considering going to pha. I have her name because she was on my stores loyalty program or whatever. If Greek life wants to better its reputation and work to defy stereotypes (because I know many more want to do this than don't), then we need to make sure people like her dont become a part of it
But with that being said rush is difficult. I had a good gpa my first semester and was my team captain and on homecoming court my senior year of high school. I learned quickly that there are many girls similar to me going through rush, and when I got cut by the top tier ones before pref I still finished and am happy where I'm at. I just hope the top tiers and upper mids will see right through her so she pulls herself out. I don't blame people for listening to rumors and wanting a "good" chapter, but to actually say something to someone is quite insultinh

Okay crazy. It sounds like you still have a chip on your shoulder from rush honestly. And I get you're upset but if she's really that bad she won't get a bid and if a chapter does bid her they'll be worse because of it. You're not a vigilante and you shouldn't act like it. That's petty.

I would email PHA. Women can be fake during recruitment, and when someone shows you who they are, believe them. Why waste a spot on a snobby girl when you can try and find good people to join your organization? It's not "ruining her life", she's the one that blatantly disrespected the OP and her chapter. There is absolutely NO reason to say that someone's face, even if you think it. OP, do you you think is right.

I feel like you are the girl lol. I don't have a chip on my shoulder from rush lol, like I said I love my chapter and I know I fit in there better than anywhere else, and I just wanted to share my rush perspective. I'm just saying that Greek life as a whole suffers because of people like this who constantly need to prove they are better than someone else

Honestly I believe it. Bottom tier chapters go through a lot during rush. There are women who will sit there and not say anything, or act completely disinterested. One of my sisters had a girl say to her face "I know I'm going to be in XYZ chapter" and ignored her the entire conversation. Unfortunately, this is a reality of recruitment that top tier chapters don't necessarily see. So yeah, I can believe it.

I'm in a bottom tier sorority and had a girl who in the full Phil round that I had the "pleasure" of talking with her, sad a record breaking 100 words. That night when we were to decide who to cut,
I sad that if that even potentially made it to the next round for us that I would drop. I remembered her name and asked my other friends about her and some said that their chapter had similar experiences. Apparently someone told the other chapters about this girl's rude behavior and she got cut. We're all pha sisters and if you can't be nice to one girl for 30mins, then you're not a nice person and no one wants that.

you just have nothing else to do with your time. maybe improve your chapter instead of consulting greek rank because then it wont be insulted as much!

You and your sisters did the right thing. You're right, if you can't be polite for a half hour, there's no reason for you to come back to any house!

Seriously consider doing this. I'm in a "lower tier" chapter too, and we would definitely want to know. Tip for the PNMs: don't be rude to chapters you're not interested in, because sororities do talk. This shouldn't even need to be said.
