For FR, do sororities want a lot of rec letters? Will it even make a difference?

it really doesnt hurt. it would be beneficial to have one for each house, no more than that. at least itll get you past the first round of recruitment. also i dont know how it is with ohter houses, but for my house, we need a letter of rec for every girl we give a bid to. so if people dont have one, we have to write one for them on the spot, which can get annoying

GTFO. This is not Alabama. Like the girl said above, we don't care for them. Legacies get cut first round, so obviously letters or recs would too. What sorority are you "in" that makes you do this letter thing? What college? Hmm?

This website isn't a very reliable means of information. You would be better off contacting someone on PHA with questions. Rec letters are encouraged, but not required. Generally speaking, they will only help you, but I wouldn't count on them guaranteeing anything. Each chapter has their own method of utilizing rec letters as a part of selection new members.

I know a theta who's about to graduate this semester. She would be an alum by the time I'm rushing. Could/should I get a letter from her??

She helped with the first part of rushing, the fall preview. I know that would be considered dirty rushing, even though she is an alum now, so I'd say no to asking/using her as a letter of rec. If other sororities found out they could say that they dirty rushed you before she was an alum and theta/any sorority doesn't want to get in trouble for something like that. I know a girl in my sorority who is going alum and wanted to write a letter for her friend and our recruitment chair said that she shouldn't just on the safe side because we still don't know what pha would think about it because they are still changing so many things with this first year of bidding. They don't have all of the rules set, and if any sororities complain that a girl who helped recruit fall preview was now writing letters of rec, it could be dirty rushing and I think pha would agree
