I'm a legacy with 3 family members being TKE's at other big ten schools. I've heard quite a bit about how TKE isn't really good anymore and how they are needlessly violent but I talked to one at the O and he was pretty convincing that they are still top. Should I trust him? It seems they are on the decline.

Im in a frat which isn't TKE, but no matter what kind of hate you hear on greekrank about them they're still top. Anyone in Greek life knows that.

to answer your question TKE is very good here. yeah they've had some trouble recently but they are definitely considered TOP TIER

Just because they're falling/below kappa sig doesn't mean they aren't Top Tier. Top "Tier" is exactly that - a GROUP of fraternities. I'd say there are 4 or 5 top tier frats at ohio state. With that said, tke has been dropping pretty hard over the past few years.
Anyhow, the "top tier" frats are all more or less equal when it comes to most things, like intramurals, blocks, etc. The only real difference between them is the "personality" of the brothers. Rush them and see how you fit!

Im a TKE legacy too, but I didnt want anything to do with TKE here, I choose a middle tier over them and dont regret it for a second.

Nobody cares if you're a legacy. Also, if you're the type of kid to ask an anonymous message board to formulate your opinion of a chapter instead of finding out for yourself then we don't want you. Check out Triangle

Go to rush events and get to know guys in the chapter. I would say TKE is solidly top tier in the sense that they have regular social events with the best looking sororities. At the same time they are consistently getting in trouble and some girls are starting to not feel comfortable there.

Other than the self imposed sopro at the beginning of the semester TKE hasn't been in any trouble since Fall 2012. Not sure where everyone is getting that from.
