the only thing that Pike does differently here than a lot of chapters is that they'll drop pledges before initiation. my one really good friend got a bid and then they dropped him, he's joined Beta now and is pretty happy there, but he and another 3 guys from his pledge class got dropped.

Honestly it makes sense. It's hard to tell in a two-week rush period whether someone is a good fit for the chapter. I don't think getting a bid should guarantee initiation.

it just kinda sucks cuz then that person is left out, whereas they may have been able to go to a different fraternity and have been pledged and initiated.

Same thing happened to a guy I worked with at the Creamery! From what I understand the Pikes are kinda selective while bidding, but then if you arent fitting in as a pledge they're really mean. Also SAE is doing way better about who they bid because they don't have a pledge process anymore (like SigEp) so they're trying to be careful not to accidentally get a loser or just be a club

Pike and SAE and Fiji and stuff ain't much harder to get in to from what I've been told. Nothing like the top tiers but hey what do I know

If you want to be in a fraternity, don't join sig ep. They have terrible brotherhood because they let just about anyone in. They brag about being the biggest (true) chapter on campus, but they party like bottom-middle tier fraternities.

why would they drop a pledge? why not just not offer him a bid
