I'm sorry but the top 4-5 houses on each side (fraternity and sorority) should always be paired together during things like these? do you think pi phi wants to hangout with sig ep or will even go? do you honestly think ksig will host any socials with AOPi. not trying to be mean but its just a waste of everyones time.

I wouldnt be surprised if they all ditch their partners. They should just pair up and party together.

Also - Theta with ZBT lol, and Delt with ZTA? What the hell...

I mean I think they should mix it up occasionally - throw top tier with mid, mid with bottom. It's not unreasonable to pair orgs that might not always mix, but could still have fun together. But a pairing like AOPi and Kappa Sig is just cruel. AOPi will probably end up feeling totally excluded, and even more distant from other parts of Greek life.

KappaSig is already planning socials with other sororitys during Greek week. I feel bad for aopi. There Homecoming pairings made them like crap and now Greek Week will too.

The thing is, this is all the Greek Life Board's fault. The guys who come up with the pairings should keep in mind certain things when they create the pairings. By putting Kappa Sig with aopi, Pi phi with sig ep, DG with Sig Pi, Theta with ZBT, they systematically are going to make people feel excluded. You honestly cant blame DG for not going to Sig Pi events, or blame Kappa Sig for not throwing events with AoPi, etc.

It sucks, but its true. Although it would be cool if they all held events with their partners, it just won't happen.

The reason they don't pair the top tier frats together is because they want to break the status que. Also give the guys of kappa sig some credit, they could end up being decent guys and doing something with them. Phi Delt did, so did Phi Psi when they were paired with aopi

I can understand that its unreasonable to have a top sorority with a bottom fraternity but it's not always bad to have say a top sorority with a mid frat or a top frat with a mid sorority. Greek Week isn't only for casual hook ups.

I don't really think its unreasonable for a top tier to be mixed with bottom tiers. like no one is asking them to be friends with each other but its not going to kill you to go to one social with a bottom tier and be nice for two hours. this is just childish lol

you're right. But, it is very unrealistic to think that the "top" houses will spend time and money on "bottom" houses, when they could just schedule events with better houses.

It's not that difficult to attend an event with a chapter that is ranked lower than yours and act like a gentleman or a lady for two hours. One Thursday night pregame out of the year where Alpha Phi isn't with Phi Psi or TKE does not signal the end of the world.

If you go in with the attitude that "this is going to suck, omg this is so unfair" then guess what? It is going to suck and your'e not going to have fun. If you just get drunk (on free alcohol if you're a girl) with your best friends and take five minutes to talk to someone new you might actually have fun.

(Coming from a "lucky" bottom tier to get paired with a top tier)
This really does suck on our end too. There's nothing worse than trying to have fun with a group who wants nothing to do with you, or is just gonna criticize you the whole time. We'll either get turned down for socials, or if we have one our pairs will only be doing it as a polite courtesy. They won't show any interest in us.

Yeah it'd be great if the top tiers could "get over it" but why should they have to? I'm just as mad.

As a person in a small fraternity, I hate the random pairings. When they were chosen by the chapters, it would always be the one time a year where we could get socials in with top or close to top sororities because of numbers, which was nice because half of the guys would be dating girls in top sororities, and we'd know guys in the other fraternity so there wouldn't be any exclusion on their part either. Now, we get matched with a higher sorority and large fraternity where are entire house isn't close with many of them, and get left out entirely.

The point of these "random" pairings during homecoming and greek week is to have people meet others that they would not have met before. It's to allow the greek community to grow and connect. If you have an issue with your pairing, then you're stuck in high school. I've been paired with fraternities that I'm not huge fans of, but I still go to events because they're fun. With many sororities and fraternities choosing not to go to events because they don't like their pairing, it hurts the entire greek community. So please, just try to enjoy your time with your pairings.
