How competitive is it? Do you need letters of rec?

Osu's rush is not considered competitive, however the amount of girls going through every year is increasing exponentially. You need to have your grades in order, involvement in high school/even college is good, and obviously, look presentable. Letters of rec are not necessary here to have a great recruitment, but they could definitely help. If you know women who can write you recs, I suggest asking them. If not, just make sure you go through recruitment in a good mood and with a good attitude! You'll find your house :)

Yes it is competitive. There was only to be 800 girls rushing, there is already over 1000, and you can register until the end of December

There were only expected to be 800 women signed up by the Fall Preview registration deadline next week but are currently at 1000. They anticipate anywhere from 1400-1600 women to be signed up by January and due to people dropping out, pledge classes are expected to be around 60-70 if not larger. They do their best to place everyone in a house, however if you do not maximize your options (aka "suicide") before bid day you are less likely to receive any bid

Some houses don't care about letters of rec, but it doesn't hurt. I'd personally go onto the "cooler connection" or "this is not a cooler but" pages on Facebook and ask for recommendations letters for every sorority. I've seen girls do it all the time, and it will increase your odds of you getting in where you want to be. Just be prepared that you might have to talk to the president of the chapter or something like that

@Yes, Just to be clear, don't tell PNMs to go onto FB pages and ask for recs from sororities. You will be ignored, or worse, laughed at.

PNMs should reach out to their friends to see if thier moms or sisters are in a sorority and would be willing to write a rec. They can also ask their parents to ask their female friends. Same with people from work, church, high school

Its not cool to ask someone you don't know unless there is some connection. They wouldn't know what to write about you and could end up giving you a "don't recommend" on the Rec.

I have seen girls do it all the time with many people more than happy to write a letter of rec. So don't say that they'll laugh at them. They won't. I remember one girl posted on there about revs and got like 40 girls to write her one. And only that sorority would get the letter of rec. It's not like KD could see that she got a letter of rec for DG. So don't go putting this idea down because of her grades are low or isn't in any activities it could help her get into the sorority she wants to get into. Just keep all of your options open OP.

Need to agree with the first @Recs. I've had girls going through rush at other schools ask me to write them a rec who I don't know. I am required to check a box that I don't personally know her. They know what I'm writing is based on how she told me how great she is . My chapter at OSU considers this and we won't look at it as favorably as a rec from someone who has known this PNM for a long time. It's kind of understood the PNM is just being lazy
