step
by: freshHas the university announced which houses will be STEP approved? I feel like that will really impact recruitment.

All of the sororities will most likely be step approved since they are all already dry. However with fraternities it will be a little different cause phi psi, sig chi, kappa sig, and TKE all arent dry so they wont be approved. This is going to give a huge boost in recruiting to Delt, SAE, pike and other dry houses because sophmores can live in the frat house instead of dorms which is a huge plus. The gap between the mid tier and top tier is going to slowly shrink.
#2 by: Dry houses are ok
Living in a dry frat house is better than the alternative: living in a dorm with freshmen, RAs, and gdis, which is where sophomores who join non step houses are going to live. Most big frats have 50-70 freshmen/sophomores, having all those kids walking back to the dorms blacked out from a tg is a huge liability issue and will probably result in an increase of the number of chapters who get in trouble.

Is that you can pay dues through the university billing system, which means anyone who doesn't pay dues get disenrolled from their classes. Chapters that are university managed collect 100% of their dues. This could equal a pretty significant budget increase for chapters that switch over to step. Also "dry houses" still let brothers drink in their rooms, alcohol is just banned in the common areas.

It's not going to change anything tier wise...Phi Psi, TKE, Sigma Chi and Kappa Sig likely will not do step, at least for the time being. They actually party/have block at their main houses so it would be a huge change for them to get university approved. It might make it slightly harder for them to fill their main house AND maintain multiple annexes if sophomores cannot live there.
Delt, Fiji, SAE, etc. already don't have social events at their main house so it makes sense for these chapters to seek STEP approval. This might give these chapters a very small recruiting tool but it's not like Phi Psi or Sigma Chi need any help recruiting or are competing for the same guys. \n\n\n\n\n

sig chi, tke, kappa sig, and phi psi will probably experience huges boosts to their recruitment, and the other houses will suffer.
freshman guys do NOT want to live in a dry house. It is a huge loss - it'll make them think that the dry frats are losers (which they are, except for delt to an extent). No good frat boy will want to live in a house where he can't drink... so for this reason i disagree with your post.
