gamma phi at ou

by: Gamma Phi Bids

I saw on FB this morning that Gamma Phi at OSU did the colonization at OU... and at preference they gave all the PNMs bids. Does that mean that just in general they just give out bids to everyone they preference? I am really worried about going through recruitment and don't want to get a call from PHA when I don't have a bid from anyone because I cut gamma phi...

I don't know for sure what the situation was at OU, but I'm assuming it was that there were recruiting to build their colony there. This means that they most likely recruited after OU's formal recruitment was completed, and the women who attended pref at OU gamma phi were only rushing gamma phi (either didn't get a bid through formal, got dropped, dropped, didn't rush formal, etc).

During formal recruitment here, bids will not be given out at pref round, not by any chapter. Not everyone that attends pref round at a house will be given a bid, there's a system to it. However, as long as you maximize your options after pref round (talk to your recruitment guides about this) you will get a bid, not necessarily to your first choice but you are guaranteed a bid.

Recruitment for new colonies (this goes for every chapter) is completely separate from formal recruitment. IH will ask an already established chapter to go to the school they're colonizing to recruit there. It has no relation to what the already established chapter does at their home school (that is, gamma phi did their IH a favor by going to OU to recruit their charter class there. It has nothing to do with how the gamma phi chapter here works).

Lol no that's not how it works. Sororities do not give out bids at pref at OSU

Oh darling you don't get it. You don't cut sororities, we cut you. You're input means very little unless EVERY house you talked to wants you back. You're opinion really means nothing til pref night.

Don't get your panties all in a wad about recruitment, which hasn't yet begun. Something to keep in mind if you DO get cut by even Gamma Phi is that another sorority (either ADPi or Zeta) will colonize at OSU right after Formal Recruitment. You will have another chance if you don't get a bid.

Are they colonizing this year? I thought these presentations were for next year.

After formal recruitment 2016. Call it this year or next year or whenever, but after bid day in January.

The colonization of whoever is selected will be 2016 NOT 2017. "False "doesn't know what she's talking about.

All the cuts of extension recruitment are made after the Philanthropy round. Gamma Phi cut over 150 girls at OU. The girls that made it to pref were already chosen to be given bids. Extension is completely different than formal recruitment. But to clarify...no, not everyone who rushed Gphi at OU got a bid. Actually less than half did.

If there is a particular house that you are sure you wouldn't accept a bid from, you can just POLITELY tell them during sisterhood round that you don't think it's the place for you. They will probably listen to you and not invite you to their pref round. Seriously, just be upfront with them without being rude.
