transfer..

by: Terrified Transfer

I am a sophomore at a large SEC school. I'm in a sorority (I prefer not to say which one). I'm not very happy at my school. OSU was the first school I ever visited & I'm still in love with it. I am scared if I transfer & join the chapter of my sorority here I won't make friends & everyone will be cliqued up... If I transfer in the fall is there hope of me making friends?

1. Total after FR will be about 180 where at some SEC schools, it is as high as 400. You will get a lot more cliques at SEC schools than you will at tOSU.
2. You won't know unless you try it.
3. See Number 2.

tOSU is nothing like most SEC schools. It is more scholastically competitive and a degree here will go a lot further than most SEC schools. Greek life isn't the center of the Universe like you will see in Tuskaloosa, Athens Miss or Auburn. You can have friends in your sorority and friends outside your sorority.

Thank you so much! tOSU has a much better program for my major which is also why I wanted to switch.

My sister went to an SEC school-seemed to me that you were defined far more by the sorority that you were in (and it seemed everyone, Greek or not, knew the reps of every sorority there). Much less interaction and friendships between sororities there. It is more relaxed at OSU- probably because the Greek scene is a much smaller part of campus life here. Yes, there are certain reps for most sororities, but your average OSU student doesn't know them or even particularly care. There seem to be more friendships here that cross sorority lines also, it's not an issue for most. You have nothing to lose by checking it out should you decide to transfer.
