problems of greek life

by:

Greeks get angry when non-greeks rip on us in the press or in casual conversation. This site and what people post on here just gives these people more reasons to hate Greek Life.

All these discussions are showing a non unified Greek system based off superficial elements. There are a lot of great things each organization does, so please let's try and make OSU Greek Life look a little better to the public. There is no reason to be mean and talk poorly of other organizations, it doesn't do anything beneficial.

Greek life IS superficial to a great extent. We organize ourselves in a caste system largely based on physical attractiveness an economic/social status. We all wear the same clothes and shell out money to present ourselves in a certain way. However we also raise a ton of money in a short amount of time for great causes, carry on traditions that date back centuries and form tight bonds with people in our chapter and the rest of the community. Greek life isn't perfect, we are basically functioning alcoholics. However I don't think nonGreek are perfect either. Every community has its positive and negative attributes. To be honest binge drinking and materialism is pretty fun anyway.

Can someone honestly think of one positive that has come from this site? All it's used for is for guys to inflate their egos by self-ranking and girls to gossip about other chapters and say things they would never say in person. All of the stuff on here is just completely negative and just perpetuates the negative stereotype.
