It's mostly just joking, specifically because of their national reputation. Most people don't actually hate Pike, it's just joking. I rushed them and got a bid but went somewhere else and know plenty of cool people in Pike here. They have decent relations with sororities although I'm not too entirely sure of their exact stance with most other than the fact that they are considered middle tier.
So to answer your question, it's mostly just joking
