first round

by:

So I heard that if a sorority is going to drop you for your grades, they will probably do it after the first round. I was wondering if the same goes for being a sophomore? If a sorority doesn't want to take a lot of sophomores, will I most likely get cut for being a sophomore right away?

It depends on the sorority, but yes it happens. Almost every house makes grade cuts after the first round, and the top tier aggressively cuts sophomores (kappa, piphi, dg, etc).

Depends on the sorority and on you. If they absolutely adore you, it won't matter that you're a sophomore at any house. If they think you're alright, you might get cut from certain houses.

We evaluate upperclassmen each round. I wouldn't say we aggressively cut sophomores after the first round but when we go through our ask-back list each round and run it up against how many we are permitted to ask back, sometimes sophomores that are at the bottom of our list get cut.

I know someone her first semester who didn't do so well in chem so grade point not good around 2.5 and she petitioned houses she wanted and bottom line she in currently in a top tier house. But I would say that isn't typical

Most chapters can't initiate you if you are below a 2.5 They will not bother with your "petition" because they don't want carryover pledges.
