grade requirements?
by: sorority
Hey everyone,
I'm a freshman planning on going through formal recruitment for sororities this spring. Although the campus-wide GPA requirement is a 2.5, I am aware that many if not most of the chapters have individual requirements that are above that- and that some chapters may make an automatic cut for girls sitting below a 3.0. Unfortunately, this past semester I did quite poorly in my calc 2 course, with it being 5 credit hours my overall gpa will be somewhere between a 2.87-3.0. Is it even worth the rush process if I won't be considered by most of the houses? I'm not necessarily set on only being in a top house but I know the chapters I am interested in are in the top-upper middle range. Feedback would be appreciated! Thanks.

I agree that you won't know unless you try, but be prepared to heavy cuts from top and mid tier chapters. It will depend on where you land after voting each night. If your involvement and personality/looks are fantastic, you might be able to get into one of them. With RFM, chapters are only permitted to invite so many girls back based on their return rates from last year. It's typically the easiest on the chapters to cut those with lower grades after the Meet the Chapters round since it's hard to rank girls from 1 - 1500. I think even all of the mid tier chapters last year had a 98%+ return rate after the first round, so their invite list will be very low for the next round.
