I am an out of stater (los angeles, ca), so I know no older girls in any sorority here. Will this make it harder for me to get into a top tier house? (especially since so many girls are rushing this year)

It can actually work to your advantage in some cases. We're more likely to remember "that girl from LA" if you're cool than some rando. Some houses already have a lot of cali girls too so you might fit in more than you think

Being from out of state, doesn't hurt you. Most chapters want "the total package" -- girls that are fun, cute, have good grades and are involved. However, chapters prioritize their needs internally. Example, some chapters would rather have an average looking girl who is really involved and has a 4.0 over a gorgeous party girl with a 2.7.
