sorority recruitment
by: Greek GirlI've heard that over 1400 have signed up as PNMs so we could have some huge pledge classes. Does anyone know how many girls dropped out last year or didn't receive a bid?

Retention has steadily improved for sorority recruitment at Ohio State.
In 2009, 630 PNMs rushed and 50% pledged at the end. Only 6 did not receive bids, of those who maximized their options.
In 2012, 886 PNMs rushed and 60% pledged. 29 women did not receive bids.
There will be over 1400 PNMs going through recruitment in 2015. We are anticipating that 65-70% of potential new members will make it to the end and receive bids. Divide that among the 15 chapters, and each one is likely to take a pledge class of 60-65 new members. Best advice: maximize your options. Recruitment will be more competitive than ever, and the older you get the fewer options you have.

I think you are mixing up total and quota. Once quota is set (prior to Pref), everyone, regardless of the current size of their house, can take up to quota. As the other poster said about, QAs can allow chapters to take more than quota. Also, QAs is not representative of tiers. Some chapters that are not necessarily top tier often take bigger NM classes.
For the chapters that are not at total (which is also set when quota is set), they can COR after bid day. This helps to raise the membership numbers in the smaller chapters to bring them up to total.

keep in mind that although quota is set, some houses will take more or less new members depending on their current chapter size. most top tier houses are well above quota, so they will take less. the bottom tiers struggle with retention, so they'll probably take a lot extra.
