would you say ohio state's sororities are more laid back than "girly"? obviously every sorority is different, but are some more girly than others?

it depends on the sorority and what clique within that sorority. Some sororities are way more laid back than others. Theres no point in me telling you because you might as well figure it out for yourself as opposed to having somebody else's views/stereotypes ingrained into your head before you rush

i ask because i'm transferring in winter semester, so there really isnt a way for me to gauge what the sororities are like before i get there

thats what recruitment is for. so you can "gauge what the sororities are like".... trust the process and dont worry about it
