informal rush question

by:

Is the minimum GPA set in stone for each sorority? For instance, tri-delt at 2.7 and KD at 2.85, if someone is beneath by .05 or so is it possible for them even to be considered?

They will not go below the posted minimum because you are too much of a grade risk. What is also worth noting is that many chapters will publish their minimum but in actuality, will not take a girl that low. For example, they might publish a 2.5 but will cut everyone below a 3.0.

Word.

I would work hard to get your grades up fall semester and try to rush in the Spring. Look, last semester Tri-Delt was 6th (3.33) and KD was 9th (3.29) in grades. They will be looking for a pledge class with grades above those GPAs, not below a 3.0. In fact, the only chapters that will look at you with anything below a 2.7 will be AOpi, one of the non NPC chapters and MAYBE Gamma Phi.\n\n\n\n\n

yeah and especially for informal, all houses that participate will be more selective than normal. there might be 50-75 girls that rush a house, but the pledge class size can be anywhere from 2-10. soooo grade risks are the easiest to cut

Each chapter has a set of bylaws and GPA is spelled out in them. If it says you need a 2.7 to be initiated, there is no way they will take you with a 2.69 just because they think you would be the perfect member. My chapter will cut for grades during the first round because we want to concentrate not only on who we WANT to take but who CAN be initiated.
