professional vs. regular
by: Pnmhi I'm going to be a freshman in the fall and I'm interested in rushing. My major is engineering and I know osu has a sorority for that. Do you think it is a better experience to join a professional sorority/fraternity or one that isn't?

dont join the engineering sorority, unless thats the type of things youre looking for. im in engineering and i love the sorority im in. once you get into your major classes youll be with the same people for 12 hours a day. you will want to hang out with different people on the weekends i can assure you that. its a nice break from all the school work. not saying phi sigma rho isnt a good place for some people, but for me i wanted something very different from the classes i was taking. i hope that helps!

Phi Rho is actually both social and professional. They're somehow pseudo-members of PHA, in that they're not nationally a PHA sorority but are considered one here. This lets let participate in Homecoming and Greek Week. Obviously they're smaller than the PHA houses, but the girls are very nice and you would still have a social experience. There's really no harm in checking it out.

1. There a plenty of people who are in honors or business "fraternities" and also in traditional ones
2. There's really nothing Greek about professional fraternities/sororities besides the fact that they use Greek letters. There's nothing wrong with that all but it's a totally different experience than IFC/PHA.
3. I say go IFC/PHA if you have to choose between the two.
