old row at osu
by: rushI heard Phi Psi, Delt, and Sigma Chi are the old row/old money frats at OSU. Will it hurt me not being a legacy?

old row and old money arent the same thing. Does old row have more old money, yes. But those fraternities are also more traditional, they look at legacies more heavily, value pledge processes, time on campus, and philanthropy. So most fraternities value legacies a decent amount, with Phi Psi, SigChi, and Pike all probably caring the most. Then like SAE and SigEp arent dont have pledging so they're not "traditional"/old row. Phi Psi, SigChi, and Fiji are the oldest fraternities here, but Fiji was kicked off for a stretch. Then for philanthropy SigChi and Delt probably do the most.
You can take into account alumni involvement, campus faculty alliances, etc. But honestly OSU doesn't one fraternity that encompasses all the "old row" qualifications. Closest they come:
SigChi
PhiPsi
Delt
Pike
New Row/New money (popular but trendy instead of classy or traditional)
TKE
KappaSig
PhiDelt
I'm leaving SAE out because they havent been at OSU continuously for that long and with the loss of their pledge process it's not the traditional experience. They're not new money guys but they're not all old row style either, and those that were have been forced away from it by their nationals.

There is actually an "old row" at OSU, no one uses that term though. Phi Psi and Sigma Chi are the main chapters on it.
