How does APES operate as they being offcampus?

by: Question

How does APES operate the way they do despite AEPi being kicked off campus. It seems like in most cases, when a frat is kicked off campus, one of three things happens:

1. They're completely finished and their nationals eventually recolonizes a few years later

2. They have to go pretty deep underground/off campus

3. They're absorbed in an existing fraternity, like what happened with Sammy becoming DKE

But it seems like APES has been capable of trucking along without having to do any of that. This post is not hating on them, by the way, I think they're a strong frat. I'm just curious as to how they're able to get away with pretty much being the closest thing to an official off-campus house at OSU. What did they do differently that other frats who have been kicked off campus haven't been able to do?

I’m not in APES, and don’t know them super well, but my understanding is that they have a very supportive nationals. That is very rare when a chapter gets kicked off campus. Usually the national HQ will try to recolonize and work with the university, but that doesn’t seem to be the case with AEPI nationals. So good for them for having a chill nationals who supports them even after being kicked off.
