Do you have friends in other frats/sororities?

by: Question

I feel like I'm one of the only brothers in my frat who has a solid group of friends in other fraternities.

Maybe it's because I made a really strong group of friends freshman year before joining my frat, but I think its healthy to branch away from your house and have homies in other frats.

Yet some of the people in my frat think that's weird? Some even get upset if I bring them around. Anyone else have similar experiences?

If you're only friends w dudes in your frat it means that you probably don't have the ability to make friends outside of your comfort zone. Definitely good to be friends with other dudes bc we're not in fraternities our entire lives, and it gives some perspective

I don't think it's weird at all to have friends in other frats/sororities. But I understand in a lot of cases, people joined their houses to make friends. So it doesn't surprise me that those people don't have larger networks beyond their own houses.

If you're hanging with people in a frat you might have a beef with, I can see why some brothers might be hesitant to let them in your house. But if you vouch for them, it shouldn't be an issue.

Vouch for them? Nobody needs to be vouched for. If anyone has issues with me bring a friend from a "rival frat" to the house, the only issues they'll have is with me.
