by: frat ratwe are currently living in the dark ages of greek life at osu. historically the best frats were always phi psi, tke, ksig, sammy. all of these frats got kicked off and lost their houses. phi phi became ka, tke became acacia, ksig stayed as ksig , sammy tuned into dke. these frats still continued to remain on top but sororities were no longer allowed to block with them officially and were forced to pair with low tier frats like pi kap,ato, theta chi, beta. these frats only claim to have gone up in rank cause the frats that were better than them were no longer recognized but still very much exist. when we graduate none of this is going to matter but for the sake of tradition and future generations there should be an effort to keep these organizations alive while we still have the chance or it will be lost forever.

As a senior this post was actually very accurate. The frat ranks are completely different than they were my freshman year and the sorority ranks are pretty much the same. I had to drop my sorority so I could go to my favorite frats cause they would force us to go to closed block with a bottom tier. I’m pretty sure a lot of the off campus frats merged cause I see guys from other frats at other parties all the time. The social hierarchy is still there you just have to be in the know

the off campus frats didn’t merge they just all have connections and friends. that’s why you see guys from off campus frats at all the top parties most of them have social bids. it’s not really about being in the frat it’s more so about being a cool guy that attracts good looking girls that’s why they let them into their parties. my ex was a social chair and said the guys in frats that haze have a respect for each other cause that’s what real fraternities do or else they would just be a club.

Off campus frats just don’t have the same selection of guys. Looking at Delt, SAE, Pi Kapp, ATO, and whoever else, they got a lot of the guys that would have rushed Ksig Phi Psi or Sammy if they were on campus. They all ended up getting guys who were better looking, more fun, and actually improved the quality of their parties. Off campus frats just live off connections. The name of the game is being on campus; OSU doesn’t do anything about off campus frats, but by staying off campus you just miss out on recruiting the guys that can actually improve the fraternity.

First off did you just put delt and sae in the same sentence as pi kapp and ato? Secondly we have the worst Greek life in all the big 10 and it’s cause of this mentality right here. These frats shouldn’t have been kicked off in the first place. They were all top for many decades and that legacy can’t be replaced by the new charter like new tke/phi psi or social climbers like pi kapp and ato. The best delt/sae party now doesn’t even come close to the parties the old phi psi would throw when they had the house on campus hence why they said Greek life is dying and people like you are the reason

This happens every 5-10 years here, look back at old rankings and it’s completely different because some frat gets shut down and another takes its place. It’s continuously changing for every generation of osu students. Sounds like you’re a senior who unfortunately caught the tail end of the old era of Greek life where phi psi ksig Sammy etc. were the top dogs

I think you are misinformed I’ve talked to peoples parents that went here back in the 1980s and they all said the best frats were always tke,phi psi, ksig, sammy. Frats didn’t start getting kicked off till recently and the oldest rankings on this site show that too

This post is retarded because the only frat that you’ve mentioned that is still off campus is ksig and that’s their own fault. Every other “legacy off campus” frat has rechartered, gotten a house, and are all pretty much relevant, yet for some reason can’t recruit as hard as delt, sae, etc. This is clearly a phi piss that is upset that they don’t get hole anymore

The rechartered versions of tke, phi psi and sammy are still bottom tier, I wouldn’t call that relevant. Just cause you have a house and a name doesn’t change the fact they are a bunch of freaks. Ksig is rechartering fall 2024 and they are gonna suck too. It’s about the over 100 years of culture that was lost when these organizations were kicked off. You can’t just take a house and name and expect to be a top tier you need people to pass down the touch per day and teach you the secrets and give you the connections. You sound like you’re in sig ep or something

they still are objectively better. frats even including delt and sae weren’t even in the top 5 two years ago but this school is full of clout chasers and guys insecure about making cool friends. two years ago you had sig chi dke phi psi ksig acacia and apes in the top 6 and nobody could even fight it. delt worked their way up fairly but frats like pikapp sae and ato still don’t need to be too compared to the ogs.
