rushing as a sophomore/transfer
by: TransferI'm a freshman at Miami and thinking about transferring to OSU for the fall. Being in a sorority would make the transition a million times easier, but how hard would it be to get into a decent one with the transfer and sophomore labels on me? Is it at all common for sophomores to rush?

The above are exactly correct. Don't listen to anyone telling you other wise. You will end up in the chapter that you belong in (whether it is top tier or bottom tier). Just think, if you were a freshman non-transfer and rushed, you would still be put in the chapter you belong in, you don't get bumped down for it. If you don't get into top tier, that means you wouldn't have as a freshman either. Goodluck!

It really depends on you. Top tier sororities don't consider sophomores ideal however if you're really pretty and vibe well with the girls then they will overlook it. But it definitely is a hindrance. And don't think they won't ask because it's the first question out of their mouths.

With sororities being so big numbers-wise these days, don't think that having a few friends in a sorority will be enough to pull you in-unless those friends are membership chairs. They can advocate for you, but you have to assume that other girls will be advocating for their friends also. Now it probably can't hurt, either, in most cases. But you want to focus on finding the house that is the right fit-and you will.

top tiers get to cut more girls each round, and they will cut sophomores more aggressively than freshman, but if youre a stand out you still will get in.
