I have a few friends who joined. There's a decent number of juniors and seniors (maybe 35?) and a lot of frosh/sophs. A lot of formal recruitment drop outs/ girls that didn't get bids. Also a few transfers that are already actives in Gphi. Number wise, they should be good but I think time will tell. It'll be hard to establish a sisterhood with so many people. They seem to be a good mix.. Can see them starting at the bottom and working up to middle tier within the next 5 years

It's such a mix of girls that it's hard to classify them. Didn't see too many that would have fit into the top tier chapters. There are some girls that probably would have probably fit well into mid tier. Most look like they would be DZ/AXO/Fuzz.

Would put them above the 2 or 3 at the bottom for now.

I think they took about 150, seems like a good mix of girls.

They seem to already have a great sisterhood and want to be involved on campus. I would agree some girls would not be top tier material, but I personally dislike how many top tiers are characterized by looks. They're very diverse. We'll see what they bring and how they rank after the class is initiated.

Can you explain how they "seem to already have a great sisterhood" after being in existence for only 3 days??! I'm sorry, you're clearly an idiot. They don't even know who's in their pledge class yet

I'm sorry, how am I an idiot? Have you seen their hashtag on twitter and Instagram? Not to mention I see them everywhere with each other despite them only being together for three days. Just because they aren't established doesn't mean they can't start developing a sisterhood...you have to remember that the experience they're having with establishing a new chapter here is totally different from what we went through with formal recruitment. Plus they're trying to step up for Greek Week and I heard a few more of the frats are trying to schedule TGs with them already. It will definitely be interesting to see them establish.

the class is 166 girls which is good number wise. when it comes to personality and looks, it varies. most are middle tier material while you have some unfortunate looking girls, some extremely shy girls along with the outgoing and hot girls that probably could have made it into top tiers. you can already tell its gonna be sort of cliquey due to the array of girls. the hot outgoing girls have already managed to find each other and make a small clan.

the good thing is that way more girls went through recruitment than they could take, so they could be selective. that being said there are quite a bunch of formal recruitment dropouts/girls that didn't get bids, but also girls that weren't interested in all the "stereotypical" sororities we already have. its a pretty decent group but they'll definitely have to try hard to establish themselves as something.

i feel like a number of girls held out on formal recruitment to join gamma phi because it is such a strong sorority on a national level. i know at my school a lot of women did the same when kkg came on. i see such variety, which is expected of a brand new chapter though. that is what some of my good friends did! i am so excited that they get to partake in the founding of a new chapter. such an extraordinary experience. such work ahead of them though!

Lets break this down.
1. GammaPhi is not that strong on a national level. Isn't even close to being as large as many others. They are about in the middle.
2. You didn't go to tOSU so your opinion doesn't matter.

lololol I agree she doesn't really have a say b/c she does not go here buttttttt do you live under a rock???

Maybe i can help break it down for ya?

1. Gamma Phi Beta is the 3rd largest sorority internationally
2. They created the word "sorority"
3. They have over 195,000 sisters in the world so please tell me how they are not that strong nationally? Also there rep at other campuses is great across the country
4. 1874.... one of the 10 oldest woman's secret societies in the world

I am not afraid to do my research on other pan organizations. They are a very strong organization and I am so happy we have them on our campus!

They brought in a pledge class that is larger than some existing organizations on this campus, and yea they will have to build a rep on our campus, but they have the tools to do it.

I guess ignorance is bliss..
I can even acknowledge this being part of a smaller sorority nationally. Where's the panhel support/love?!

We are so lucky to have them here!

But they are one of the oldest, strongest and largest sororities so that makes them a good addition here. I have a Gamma Phi friend at Mizzou and she loves it!

You're facts are bull$hit, sit down and shut up.

XO: 300,000 members
Theta: 250,000 members
DDD: 238,000 members
KKG: 235,000 members
PiPhi: 230,000 members

1. They have the third most CHAPTERS but arent even in the top ten for overall membership which shows that they consistently struggle at most large school and colonize small schools to compensate. They are not that strong in OSU's transfer pool (Indiana, Miami of Ohio, OU, etc.)

2. At some point someone also made up the word for a "cabbage", doesn't make them famous or something exceptional. It's just a word.

3. Already covered the rep thing, but to further embarrass you on your lack of knowledge, they are actually the weak link of the "Syracuse Triad" (Alpha Phi and AGD both being stronger in either chapter or membership numbers)

4. ADPi is also old but they have struggled the last 25 years to keep up with the times and maintain a strong national reputation. Gamma Phi is very similar in that age alone does not make it some national powerhouse or even "strong".

Besides AEPhi, I think they're almost the weakest "national" sorority here

the person above has it about right, when PHA decided to expand I was expecting Zeta back. Honestly Phi Mu, ADPi, Sigma Kappa, and Gamma Phi are all on the same level. They're not the worst of PHA but they aren't the top either

They seem like good enough girls. Very diverse and hard to classify. Apparently to get a bid they had to interview with the international president or people on the international council and other prominent members. Very very different from formal rush. I know a few girls in it who seem to like it so far, despite only knowing the PC for a few days. We'll see how it goes.

This is the way all colonizing chapters do it. You interview with women from the national office who have already graduated. It is nothing like Formal Recruitment but it's not unique to Gamma Phi Beta.

they've already had 7 drop... and lets be honest more will follow. Once the hot girls find out they are hanging out with delta sig and lambda chi they will go back to being GDIs at Sammy parties

Every sorority has pledges drop...a lot of them are recruitment dropouts anyways, and if they couldn't handle it then, why would the be able to handle it now? I agree some will drop when they see their pairings for social events but they don't have a social chair or any positions yet so they'll go to events with anyone who invites them.
