tears

by:

Girls bring the tissues... Sat morn. When you find out which houses invited you back the tears will come because you already have pictured bid day in your head, most likely won't happen that way.

Then comes Sun. morn, pref round so stressful to look at which houses will be your finally three. Just be yourself at each house.

Then going back to the union to figure out your 1,2, and 3rd choice. Be sure mom is on speed dial. Whatever choice you see on Monday if not first or second choice take a minute be sad get over it quickly... then run like heck to your house because your new sisters are there waiting for you.

Good Luck may you find the right house for a lifetime of sisterhood.

your right, and thanks for the reminder because I needed that! only thing I don't get through this process is why do the pnms think abc houses are so good for them and then most of the time end up with completely different ones at the end and most of the time not getting the house they really wanted?

If you can figure out an answer to this, you are smart enough to find a cure for cancer.

Here is my take: most of these 18 or 19 year old girls have never been told "no". They were the queens of their schools and were put up on a pedestal. They think they are a unique snowflake in this world and will never be disappointed.

This is life. It's reality. You can't always be homecoming queen.

^she means the houses pnms think are the most like them and the ones they feel they would fit into the most. no need to make assumptions that it was meant in a spoiled way.

I wasn't inferring they were spoiled. They view situations unrealistically because they have never faced disappointment. Many of them had parents that didn't allow them to fail at any point and they aren't aware they can't always get what they want.

Can I just say something here? Instead of being bummed about your choices, please understand that the sororities you get back are ones that really are interested in you, and could seriously see you a a sister. Look at them that way. They like you. They think that you might be a great fit. Going Greek was the best decision I made after deciding to go to OSU. All houses have a social calendar. All houses have a sisterhood-some encompass the whole sorority, some the pledge class, some the family. All houses have great reasons to join them. Don't mess up your long term happiness in a great sorority with a short term disappointment.

I think one of the biggest problems with recruitment is girls' inability to look at themselves completely objectively. Maybe a girl thinks she's really "edgy," but is she really edgy enough to fit in at Alpha Phi (just an example here, you could say this about other sororities and their stereotypes as well)? More often than not the chapter a girl believes she's meant for is really just what she wishes she could be more than it is truly a reflection of herself. Thats why the chapters make cuts - to weed the girls that would truly fit in out of the "wannabes."

Have to agree with you. Also agree with others above-each year it has become more difficult to get into OSU. The girls going through recruitment are smart and accomplished, with great resumes. Most of them were probably big fish in small ponds, and now are finding that there is quite a bit of competition in a much larger ocean.
