this weekend
by: LadiesAs this weekend approaches and you get your papers back, don't be discouraged if you don't get asked back to your top houses. Some houses have a ton of girls that want them and they can only pick around 50, so please don't take it personal and get upset! Also, please don't drop out unless you REALLY want to. And if so I would consider going to preference round and if you still don't click with that chapter you don't have to put any sorority down, no one will force you to join one. Please give the greek community a chance and try not to be close minded!!

if for next round they can only choose about 50, that means they are basically choosing the pledge class right there. So when girls out of those 50 want to pref other chapters, they wouldn't have enough to even make a pref round or a pledge class. So no, I believe the chapters are taking more then 50 for next round..

During the Meet the Chapters Round, there were 1126 girls who registered for recruitment and visited every house.
Top houses had very high retention rates, which enabled them to be more selective. This was very evident in Philanthropy round. Top tier houses only invited back less than half of the original pnms (around 450), middle tier houses invited back around 500-600 girls, and bottom tier houses got the leftovers and girls who didn't cross them off their list.
Going into Sisterhood round, it will be even more competitive. Top tier chapters might invite back like 200-250 women, which means there will be severe cuts and lots of broken hearts. Middle tier might invite back closer to 300. By Preference Round, those numbers are practically cut in half. These are just numbers, but it's a friendly reminder of how important it is to keep an open mind!

can you explain what RFM is and how it works? and also how come some chapters can only invite back about 150 to the 3rd round while others can get 200-250? Shouldn't all the chapters be inviting back basically the same amount for these next 2 rounds since they will all have generally equal pledge classes?
#5by: thanks!
Oh! That makes more sense. More girls are choosing the higher chapters, but they can only ask back the same as the other chapters, therefore more girls are getting cut even though the same number are getting asked back, right?
Also if you get asked back to any top tier chapters for sisterhood round, does that mean you have a good shot at making it to their pref round? Since that means they obviously liked you enough for sisterhood to not cut you?
#6by: Plan on
Sit back and think if you really like the girls in your 4th through 9th chapters instead of your top 3. What I'm not saying is look at a popularity contest.
Could you be friends with these girls? Can you hang out with these girls watching TV with no make up on and in your sweats knowing they won't judge you? That is what you need to look at.
You will have fun in one of these chapters if you don't get your top 3 and you will have a great sisterhood. Give all of your options a chance and you will be happy.

I think a lot of the pnms, including myself, are concerned about the social aspect of the chapters. Personally I am primarily looking for the sisterhood, and all of those amazing moments that you named above with girls who make me feel comfortable that I can relax with. However, it is constantly perceived that the middle-lower chapters don't have much of the social part that girls seek within a sorority (and that is normal so please do not bash that). This is what is made hard through this process because I, and many other girls I have heard it from, feel like the genuine girls are more in the chapters that don't offer much of a social aspect. When joining a sorority that you are committed to for your college career, it should be understandable that a pnm is going to want a chapter that gives the whole package of having both amazing sisters and being able to do things and party WITH those amazing sisters. Can anyone vouch for the middle and lower chapters for what social aspects they have to offer? That way more pnms can feel more open to them? Considering they are already well aware that they have the sisterhood part down pact.
#8by: Mid Tier
There is nothing wrong with mid tier chapters. The people on here that bash the mid tier are typically people who hide behind the anonymity of the internet. They have social lives and many of the girls in these chapters date/hang out/study/are friends with guys in great fraternities. I know girls in mid tier houses that date Tekes, Phi Psis and mid tier fraternities. Even AOPi is doing Greek Week with the Phi Psi.
Give mid tier chapters a chance and you will have a social life. If you are uptight, it doesn't matter what house you get into.
Besides, none of us on this website can change how a chapter already voted. If they cut you already its done. Your options are to not be Greek or look at the opportunities that the other chapters can provide.
