So If I had a 3.45 last semester and was cut from theta would that be the reason?

By: wanted theta
by: no

They can cut a PNM for a variety of reasons, GPA being only one of them.

If you have above a 3.0 and they love you then they will probably keep you. They will ony cut you if you have below a 3.0 or something. A lot of houses will make exceptions for certain PNMs if they are super interested in them

is a 2.8 enough?

By: is
by: 2.8

Probably not. That is considered a grade risk and most of the top and mid-tier house will think twice.

Grades are only one thing the chapters look at. But, I'll warn you that most chapters post one GPA minimum but have an unpublished GPA that they really use and it's higher.

Other things they look at
personality,
your looks (many houses don't want girls who are overweight and have a pizza face),
your style (no you don't have to wear designers and can still have style),
your involvement,
your rec score,
who you know in the house.

is internal to each sorority. Don't bother asking how we score the recs because we won't tell you.

Also, what year in school. If you are a senior, you probably won't get a bid. If you are a junior, you will get a bid from a lower tier house -- maybe a mid tier house if they really want you.

All houses take Freshman and Sophomores but lets face it, they want Freshman.

dont give them false hope, my sorority just cut all sophomores

Which sorority? And were they cut purely because they were sophomores?

Do you really think anyone will tell you which sorority? Trust me, by next weekend everyone will know.

My chapter just cut most sophomores. We only kept the ones that really scored high.

There are a lot of really good chapters, so keep an open mind.

Not every house cuts based on what year you are. If you are a junior, you may have a lower chance. As far as sophomores are concerned, we don't even pay attention. It's not even mentioned. So don't get your hopes down just because other houses do that.

Very little difference in how we score soph/freshmen, but juniors and higher will almost for sure be cut for next weekend
