Greek life, much like high school and the rest of college is shallow. If you're hot (guy or girl) you will be better recepted and more well-liked. It happens that most of the hot guys join the same couple frats and most of the hot girls join the same couple sororitys. So yes, being in a top tier house will allow you a greater opportunity to interact with good-looking people. But it honestly doesn't matter your social tier. If you're a hot guy and in Delta Chi, you'll still have a chance of dating a Theta. If you're an attractive girl in AOPi, you'll still have a chance at hooking up with TKEs.

Moral of the story: join where you personally make the most friends. Don't join a house for its perceived status or tier.
