good luck ladies

Keep an open mind when you meet the chapters tomorrow night. All chapters at Ohio State have great things to offer. Keep an open mind and be polite even if you don't click. There is nothing worse than getting a reputation of being a biotch. It might keep you from getting any bid.

What happens if you get cut from the chapters that you felt you clicked the most with and are only offered chapters you felt you really didn't click with? I know keep an open mind, but what if you don't feel you belong?

Some girls find that they actually belong in a house that they didn't think they would fit in originally. This happens all the time. One girl in my recruitment group thought 100% that she was meant to be a theta, but she ended up in AOPi and loves it. Don't be delusional, and don't lose heart if you get cut from a house you thought you liked. The actives know what they're looking for, and they basically decide if you'd fit in or not. Just trust the process.

When I started recruitment my freshman year, I had never even heard of the sorority I ended up joining. I was cut from my top choice after both the second and third round (my gpa was garbage) and I was pretty disappointed going into preference round, but I decided to stick it out and see if any of the 3 chapters made an impact on me, and I figured I could be happy in 2/3, so I didnt rank the 3rd. On bid day, I got the chapter I ranked first, but I wont lie and say I was ecstatic with it. I wanted to be greek, though, so I ended up deciding to stick it out through pledging and if I still didnt like the house I could drop before initiation. 3 years later I know sticking around was the best decision I could have made. Friendships may be started on bid day, but they take time to grow into true sisterhood, and they're not determined by how many socials you have with the popular fraternities or who is paired with who for homecoming. If I would have dropped when I got cut from my "top choice" I would have missed out on some of the best friends and best times I've ever had.

That made me feel a lot better, thank you! I think it's a problem at OSU how each chapter has such a stereotype that girls get such an idea of where they belong without actually spending time in the chapters. this is also probably the cause of the big drop out rate during recruitment every year, its sad

Let's be honest. Usually when a girl says that she doesn't click with the chapters left on her card, it means that she is disappointed with her results, mainly status-wise. She has two choices-1) drop out and probably never go Greek, as this is her best chance, or 2) suck it up and decide that she will look at the remaining sororities with fresh eyes, and find the good in them. She might end up being happily surprised and find a great fit.

Release Figures Methodology will limit the number of girls a chapter can ask back based on their historical return rate. For example, you have 1100 PNMs but chapter ABC may only be allowed to ask back 50% after the first round. This means that over 500 girls who thought ABC was their home will be disappointed.

Keep an open mind and go back wherever you are asked. If, after Preference, you realize that none of the chapters that you have left will be the best fit for you, then don't sign a bid card. Gamma Phi Beta might be another option. Depending on what year you are, you might have a chance next year.

Your objective should be to find the bet fit for you, whatever that might be, regardless of status. What girls would you honestly want to hang with in good times and bad? You will only be spending so much time with the frat guys. Let me tell you, there is nothing worse than committing to a sorority bc of its supposed ranking and then six months later wondering what the hell were you thinking.

Reality is, the vast majority of OSU students wouldn't be able to tell you the difference between Pike and Pi Phi, or AGR and AGD, Chi O and Sigma Chi...

but who wants to associate themselves with the vast majority of OSU students? thats part of the reason you go Greek

I love my sisters and am very happy in my sorority, but I also love my GDI friends. That's the great thing about OSU-you can have the best of both worlds.
