my roommate was a theta and her big sent a couple of her frat friends to deliever a tshirt. The guys made her chug two beers and then however long it took they ran that many loops around our floor with her upside down over their shoulder. she ended up getting sick, but it wasnt as big of a deal like the two explained above.

What really is considered hazing? Isn't it so broad?...anything that makes one feel uncomfortable?

anything could be considered hazing, but its not really scary like most make it out to be. its a shared experience that does bond you guys. How much more of a memorable experience would the Mirror Lake Jump be if it was just something crazy/fun that only you and your sisters did? If you were in another sorority that didnt jump you would just write it off as childish and disgusting, but it would be something memorable and special for you guys.

Go into it assuming they all do. Hazing really isn't that big of a deal and how the media and this sight portrays it. You need to look at it from both sides. Chapters dont just haze their new members for no reason. Theres no way to understand it until you go through it, but these chapters would take the risk of hazing if they did not think it was worth the benefits it has. Of course everyone that is in a chapter that doesn't haze is going to bash the ones they do. You just dont hear the pro-hazing side because of the stigma and the harm it could cause the chapter if caught/found out.

You must be a guy. Guys for some reason see hazing as a way to bond. BS.
That being said, if you look at the strict interpretations for hazing, it is almost impossible not to haze. However, some sororities are known for their more negative type of hazing, whereas others are not.

and the girls that haze do it for BS reasons as well? If you havent been hazed Im not going to expect you to understand it, but how about some open mindedness. Everyone that is getting hazed is a consenting adult there by their own free will. You can walk out at any time and are never going to be put into any real danger or humiliation. If hazing was pointless nobody would do it

It is bonding, think back to your high school days and what you had to do when you were on a varsity sport even the band geeks had a right of passage,that was probably considered hazing. Do you look back and laugh and think of the fun memories that were shared? So for greek life there has to be guidelines made because every so often unfortunately drunk people take it to far. So when a sorority has been slapped with hazing it might only be that the pledges were blind folded during hell week, something so minor like that.

thats like saying cannabis is bad because you can get arrested. Just because something is against the rules doesn't make it morally wrong. I was hazed, cherish the experiences, and wouldn't have had it any other way.

in repsonse to ^ Hazing I was in a sorority at osu and yeah there were some embarrassing moments during initiation wk that's all part of it and it's a good laugh now... get over yourself you probably don't/can't pee/poo until everyone is out of the bathroom that's how uptight you sound. hmmm wonder what house your in?
