Rushing Formal Junior Year?

by: BA

Hi everyone, so I basically was not sure if greek life was for me the past two years of college, so I never rushed a sorority. However, one of my friends who is in a sorority recently convinced me to try rushing this spring. I like a lot of girls that I know in certain sororities, but they are typically in "mid" or "upper" tier ones. Specifically, I really like KD a lot as I have known a lot of girls from KD and they have all been super sweet and I connected well with them. Basically, my question is, do I even have a shot at any of these "mid" or "upper" tier sororities (especially KD), or is it not even worth it for me to rush at all? Thanks!

I would def recommend rushing multiple sororities. KD is a solid middle tier sorority and it’s not super competitive.

I would say...don't. The chapter that will bid you (if any) will treat you like a freshman and junior year is usually the time most students want to work on getting out of OSU in general, nevermind worrying about being part of a large group that would want you to stay.there a TON of other student groups that couldnt care less about your age.

I did formal as a junior. As long as you don't mind potential heavy cuts your first round, go for it! I wouldn't get your hopes up about KD. If the girls you know don't have a lot of pull in the chapter, you may not get a bid. Most upper mid/top tier chapters will cut you because of your rank. They want freshmen mainly. However, if you're concerned about rank, don't join a sorority. That's not what it's about.
