need advice: informal or formal recruitment??
by: new transferI will be transferring into Ohio state as a sophomore in the fall. I am struggling to decide if I should do informal or formal recruitment. I have a few sororities in mind that I am interested in, but I obviously don’t know if they will be participating in informal recruitment. Anyone have advice if it is better to do informal or formal as a sophomore?

There are many sororities that give bids to sophomores during both formal and informal, so I wouldn’t worry about that. As long as you keep an open mind, you should be fine on both. However, freshman can’t do fall informal, so you won’t have to compete with them if you do informal in the fall.

Definitely both. You can do informal in the fall & see how it goes, but if you dont find your fit, you can do formal in the spring!
Plus, go to informal events for even chapters you’re not “interested in”. One, they may end up being a chapter you love & the ones you’re interested in you may hate because they vary so much from school to school. Two, even if you go all the way through and choose to not accept a bid given, it’s great conversation practice for formal recruitment!
