by: gamma delta iotaIf you could place the main fraternities into categories based on their reputations or stereotypes (not by tiers), what would they be? i.e. the preppy frats, or the jocks, or the weird ones, etc. Who falls in each group?

Preppy- Phi Psi, Delt, Sig Chi
Jocks- TKE, Sammy
Sweet- ATO, SAE (Nice guys and b/c of this they're labeled "weird")
Try Hard- Kappa Sig
Phi Delt maybe would fit in try hard, Pike probably in sweet but I don't think either fully fits in either.
The rest really aren't worth discussing

Preppy and rich: Phi Psi, Sigma Chi
Just preppy: Delt, Pike, Kappa Sig
Jocks: TKE, Sigma Chi, Delt, Phi Delt
"Nice guys": SAE, Pike, ATO
Partiers: Phi Psi, TKE, Sigma Chi (at least they were before their membership review), Phi Delt
Try-hards: Kappa Sig, ATO
Diverse: TKE, Delt, Pike
Hottest: TKE, Phi Psi, Delt, Phi Delt
Classy: Phi Psi, Delt, SAE, Pike

Are the guys in Phi Psi and Sigma Chi really that much richer then everyone else?

not really, both of the PhiPsis that I am very close with have modest income families and have to maintain jobs during college to pay for their dues. They just flaunt their money more than others and then do attract some guys who have been raised with a silver spoon, but to say all of them are would be untrue. They're still down to earth guys once you get to know them, and that can be said for the fraternities that are labeled "down to earth" they have guys from millionaire families mixed around in them

Both of those fraternities have a greater number of guys who come from very wealthy families. Also their dues especially living in dues are way more expensive then everyone else by a long shot. They both have a lot of history and prestige at Ohio State and have very successful alumni so they get wealthy legacy kids.

who has dues that are more reasonable while still being a good frat? My family isn't as affluent as most

List way above is pretty accurate
But I wouldn't call ATO try Hards by anyy means, they're pretty humble and classyy from events we had with them

Phi Psi, Sigma Chi, and Delt, ; all have pretty high regular listed dues
TKE, KapSig, and Phi Delt; have lower looking regular dues but then you have to add in their social dues which are a lot
I'd say SAE, Pike, and ATO(depending on what they decide to do about their living situation) are some of the less expensive while still getting to mix with the better sororities
