by: 24642How common is it to get your first choice after pref round today out of the 2 houses you’ve gone to? Do sororities still drop girls?

The way the process works, you cannot be dropped if you list both houses (or one, if you only have one left). If you do not list a house that invited you to its preference ceremony, you can still be dropped.
There's a good chance you get your first pick, but it's not guaranteed. That's why it's so important to make a good impression/connection today. Fun fact: this is the round where PNMs have the most say in where they end up.
Good luck :)

@Recruitment is correct. You rank your houses and the sororities rank all of their pref pnm's. No one is dropped; everyone attending pref is on their bid list somewhere. The algorithm will go down a house's bid list and try to match those names with pnm's who listed that house first until that house matches to quota. If your name is high enough to match on your #1's list you will get that bid. If not, the algorithm then tries to match you with your second choice house the same way. If you don't match with them either, you will still get a bid as a quota addition to either house, and the algorithm tries hard to match you with your first choice but there are other factors too so not always. If you have only one house at pref and put it on your card you will get that bid. So you see, you are guaranteed a bid if you list everywhere you pref. The odds DO favor you getting your first choice but there is no guarantee because it depends on where you are on the bid lists and what quota is. But, if you pref two houses and only rank one (SIP or suicide) and then don't match with that house, you are done; you will not get that bid nor be placed as a quota addition. If you get your number two house, GIVE THEM A CHANCE. Hope this helps.

If you suicide and don’t get your house will they inform you of that before or will I have to go to the union only to find out I didn’t get the bid?
