Do you know what houses do COB or informal? I got dropped from all except for the house I’ve been trying to drop and I do not want to go there.

It’s usually the lower tiers. The upper tiers will do cob / informal but usually invite only as they will have very few spots.

Harsh to be dropped by all but one house at this stage what happened?! Grades?

I’d recommend going through with it and giving your last house a chance.

All houses have good and not so good points. Continue to go through recruitment and look for the positives in each house where you were extended invitations. Evidently, they liked you, which is a very big plus.

I understand you’re probably upset right now, but maybe you should take a chance on that house since they are the only one to take a chance on you. You can always drop later if it’s not a fit

Not true. I don’t like this advice because some people can tell some houses aren’t a good fit, even if the house is willing to give them a bid. If they accept then drop, they can’t join another chapter so I don’t suggest that.

I would suggest:
• Discussing your options with your Rho Gams. This is what they’re there for. They may be able to help you decide if you should drop the house or not.
• Check out chapter’s like Phi Rho or DOK if you’re eligible by Major (but DOK isn’t PHA, just so you know).
• Really ask why you don’t want the house left. Is it superficial or just genuinely not a good fit ( for a legit reason)
• Wait until fall for more COB or wait until next spring to rush again (maybe with a better GPA to help)

Sure, but 99% of the time it's a superficial reason. No PNM actually knows whether they fit into a house or not. Unless a girl is actually rude to you or talks about something inappropriate (or unless you have a bad history with someone in the house), you don't know if you're a fit. Honestly, most PNMs can find a fit in most houses because every chapter has so many types of people. It's just that some fits are better than others. And most of the fit depends on the rest of the pledge class - less on the upperclassmen anyways.

Well if it is for a superficial reason, the only person it will hurt is themselves so they can look deep at that & make that decision themselves. Sure, I think I could’ve made any chapter work, but also when it comes down to it, that’s not always the case for everyone.

If they decide to drop, that is their choice & they know the options. If it’s superficial, they’d likely have to wait to try again until next spring for a “top” house & will find out the hard way again in a year if it truly wasn’t a fit. PNMs know that & Rho Gams make that clear.

I’m a PNM and I just wanted to say that I don’t think there’s anything wrong w not wanting to continue thru rush and potentially accept a bid from one sorority when she knows it’s not for her. Sororities are a lot of money and commitment and if the only option left isn’t for her, then there’s no point in wasting money on it! I personally know that going thru rush there were houses I definitely couldn’t see myself in & I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that!!
