sorority referrals

I’m going through recruitment in January and I’m not from around here but I have a few friends and family that want to write me referrals for their sororities. Is this helpful/ encouraged here or is it looked at differently than in other places? I know a referral doesn’t get you a bid but I’m wondering if they are good to have or not? Also is there a limit on how many?

in my sorority we only really care if you're a legacy. like if your mom, sister, or grandma was in said sorority.

If you have people who want to write recommendations for you, by all means take them up on it. While my house does not get a TON of letters (unlike our Southern) chapters, we are always happy to meet the ladies they have recommended.

It does not hurt.
