How does informal rush work? Do we contact them?

It is probably too late to contact them for this spring. It is worth a shot, but you will probably have to do informal next fall. Go onto the PHA website and email them.

it’s not too late to ask about informal. Go to the PHA website and sign up. Don’t bother emailing them because they will just tell you the sororities participating. Just email or contact the sororities yourself ( what PHA would tell you to do anyway) and see if they have any open or invite only events going on and how to become a part of that. They will respect you reaching out. But that being said there probably aren’t that many spots left so I’d be quick about it.

This is so wrong in so many ways.

A high percentage are going informal because Kappa colonizing made girls who didn’t get their very top choice drop.

-How can you say Zeta “frequently” does when this is their second year doing formal, and last year after formal they did not have to do informal.
-GPhi has does informal twice in the past two years. Once last fall & (potentially) now. That’s it.
-Fuzzy & Chi O haven’t had big informal classes in a long time. Chi O had informal this fall for the first time in a while.
-AEPhi is not always taking girls. Multiple semesters In my four years they haven’t been.


EVERY SINGLE CHAPTER HAS DONE INFORMAL BEFORE, whether they make it public or not. Get off your high horse.

How can you say AXo frequently has to recruit a few girls when they’re one of the only chapters not doing informal? Especially compared to those around them such as fuzzy, zeta?

In reference to above, people need to take into account peoples expectations during and right after recruitment. Sororities in mid tier (like chi o fuzzy and zeta) sometimes have more girls drop immediately because many of the new members also pref at houses like aphi and piphi. When these girls get bids to mid instead of top they drop before giving it a try (leading to COB) because they think they're too good for it and are disappointed. Similarly, bottom tiers usually pref with other bottom tiers and lower mids. Thats why if your options are say axo, dz and aopi; Axo is the "best" house that you have left and when you get a bid, you're less likely to drop right away because you are glad to be there. Im saying this is a crappy attitude to have as a new member because no sorority is below you for any reason at all but it is unfortunately a reality that sororities in that upper mid to mid tier range have to deal with. Informal does not really affect tiers because of these factors.
