do houses do a lot of "snap" bidding here?

thanks! I hadn't heard much about it along the process as far as the differences between snapbid and QA so appreciate the info.

Snap bids are usually given by houses that don’t make quota. People may know who is a snap bid but not always. A quota addition will receive a bid just like everyone else so very few will know who those people are. It doesn’t matter how you get your bid what matters is you got a bid.

Your pledge class won’t know unless you tell them, plenty of chapters do it, and if you ranked them well/vibed with them you’ll likely get one. But if you’re not timely in your reponse you’ll lose your opportunity. Most chapters who do snap bids also do informal in the spring and fall so look out or reach out to chapters you liked!

oh and I know if I'm dropped it doesn't guarantee I'd get a snap bid anywhere I was just curious about it lol

snap bidding is not the same as QA. QA is when a chapter meets quota, but PNMs didn't match with any of the choices they had, so a chapter has the choice to give them a bid in addition to the PNMs they already have and go over quota, so the PNM doesn't get dropped completely. It's the "reward" PNMs get for maximizing their options. It is usually mandatory for chapters to give QAs in this situation, but it is a good thing because it means so many PNMs put this chapter first on pref.
A snap bid is when a chapter doesn't meet quota and can extend bids to PNMs they dropped in previous rounds who have either been totally dropped from recruitment or have elected to drop out. It means the chapter didn't have enough people rank them first, which is why there's a stigma.
Both of these happen before bid day events, so no one in the chapter (outside president and recruitment chair and advisors) should know if a girl is a snap bid/QA. Once bid day is over, total is reset and chapters under total have a chance to do "informal" or COB.
