informal now or in the fall??

Any sorority that is below total (the avg sorority size) may pick up a couple of girls through COB, but it's usually PNMs they know that dropped out of formal for personal reasons or didn't sign up in time. It's all very informal and not generally advertised unless a chapter is well below total.

Any sorority below total will be eligible for informal recruitment in the fall. Most sororities that are eligible to recruit do informal and events may or may not be public. If there's only a couple spots, it's usually friends of PNMs already in the chapter and if there's more than 5-10 spots, it's usually advertised by the chapter.

Do both.

If you were really interested in a sorority and have been cut; reach out right after recruitment via email to ask if they’re participating in informal at all because you’d like to be considered because you genuinely felt a connection to them.

If you didn’t fit a house at all or fall in Love, just wait to see who does informal events this semester and go to those. Or try Kappa.

If that does work, do informal in the fall.

It literally doesn’t hurt you at all to do both.

My biggest informal advice is DONT just accept any bid you’re extended because you want a bid from anyone. Really consider if you feel at home at that house. Even if it’s the only house this semester doing informal and they offer you a bid, if you don’t feel like it’s a good fit or don’t have a fuzzy feeling about it, just wait for fall.

If you can get in through formal recruitment, that's ideal. You have the best chance of finding a house you like whereas in informal, there's really only one or two houses that will take over ten girls. Most houses that do it will only accept two or three and it's people who are highly connected with girls already in the chapter. If you don't like the house you end up with on Monday or don't see yourself in any of your pref chapters, don't force yourself to join. There are other great organizations on campus that can be just as rewarding.
