osu greek life alum, i'm just curious...

Can someone shoot me straight on what actually happened for this suspension? Was it just a reactionary move based on national events or did something legitimately bad actually happen?
I'm sure I sound like some narc, but I'm just genuinely trying to understand what happened.
I'm old and I don't know people on campus anymore to ask about it. Sadly, this is my best source of info on this issue.

This was the first the semester that student conduct was put in charge of policing greek life. Obviously student conduct is much more strict, and as a result they began to put frat after frat on cease & desist for violating the code of conduct (underage drinking). Obviously 11 frats being on C&D looks bad. Coupled with the situations going on at other schools, the university opted to suspend all fraternities as a way to save face and appear proactive.
Nothing legitimately bad happened, its merely OSU executing a power grab over it's hold on greek life.
