Someone just told me zta started with 200 girls and 50 dropped the first year. Is this true? And I also heard they have a rule if you drink too much at one social event you cant go to anymore events the rest of the year. Im rushing next year and my mom and sister are ztas (other schools) and would love to be too but it seems so many girls didnt like it

these are both true, I would consider looking at other houses if those things bother you. The first is definetly a red flag in my opinion

50 dropping overtime in 2 semesters is true. The drinking part is not. Just keep yourself in line at any drinking event regardless of the sorority. Legacies do not matter here so even if you did rush and said you are a ZTA it does not really mean you will be guaranteed a bid with ZTA.

former rho gam here and that is absolutely not true, if you are a legacy that can do nothing but help you! esp. at a newer sorority like zeta which isn't very selective and is required by PHA to welcome back more girls than other more established chapters. most chapters cannot cut legacies until later rounds and some are required to put you on the bid list if you make it preference

Yes a legacy can "help" in certain ways but normally after the first round. But this is not the south where they make a big deal about it and bring you all the way through the whole process. All the sororities here look for certain qualities. ZTA is selective and all sororities do not have to bring you back depending on their rules. You sound like a terrible Rho Gam sounding like legacies get "more out of it" & have a higher chance when in reality it does not help here barely at all.

being a legacy for ZTA will help a lot. OSU isn't the south, burn ZTA has very southern roots that their nationals take seriously. Being a legacy means a lot for them, especially because they're trying to beat Chi O as largest nationally

not a terrible rho gam just being realistic. I am not a legacy anywhere and did fine during recruitment just like many girls who do fine without being legacies. Its not as big a deal at OSU like it is in the south but it will help you. An algorithm determines how many girls each sorority has to invite back in order to make quota and newer sororities must invite more back, odds are they aren't cutting legacies first (: also unsure why you quoted "more out of it" bc I didn't say that anywhere in my post

Could it be they had a large senior class?

i mean when a sorority has to completely rebuild theirselves from the ground and starts with a 200 person pledge class many people are bound to drop since it wont have the sorority feel right away. It is definitely getting better it just takes time. as for the drinking thing I have not personally heard of that but who knows.

I doubt 50 seniors would want to be in a sorority for one semester. Ive heard girls are very unhappy with the sisterhood
