the truth about being in the lower tier

All you pnms and anyone thinking about rushing:
I am in a sorority that is close to bottom tier. And it doesn't matter. The hype of being in a top tier sorority goes away pretty quickly, as you realize that having gorgeous sisters doesn't equate to good sisterhood.
Every sorority, regardless of "rank", goes out, has socials, has block, and hangs out with frats. We regularly hang out with 6-7 frats, which all have nice, cute guys. In total, we have events with about 10-15 frats, depending on the year and the social chairs. But not every sorority has a good sisterhood.
The ranks are arbitrary once you're in a sorority. I know personally that if I was in a top tier, I would have dropped in a week.
Also, everyone needs to keep in mind that sororities all support each other. We are PHA sisters, and when you see positive comments, that's who it's usually coming from. Almost all the negativity that we get as a sorority comes from this website, and rarely from the actual Greek community.
Please, if you are a pnm,get off this site. It is arbitrary and generally inaccurate. Ask yourself what you really want and what is actually important to you. If it is sisterhood, I can tell you that you should not rule out a lower tier, because they recruit based on personality, not grade and looks. Please do not assume that the ranks have any sort of objective scale, because they absolutely do not.

I agree that the girls to support other chapters and pha as a whole are the ones not in top tiers. Those girls are too busy worrying about themselves to support the rest of us and it's honestly disappointing to see. I preffed at a top tier house and ended up not getting a bid from them so i'm now in a lower middle tier house and i'm so happy with the way things worked out now

But in addition of course there is nothing wrong with being in one of the top tiers on this site, they are great too, just like all the chapters. They have good sisterhoods as well. Coming from someone in bottom tier, i found this site right after pref round and almost dropped out of recruitment when i saw my houses left were towards the bottom and my favorite was a bottom tier. I was encouraged to stick with it and im so glad i did because I love my sisters so much and I can't imagine myself anywhere else. I wish this site would just go away forever sometimes so pnms wouldnt see it and make the same mistake i almost made. you'll come to see once you join greek life all the mature people don't care about tiers and they generally mean nothing at all. It's just where you feel comfortable

I lold at this at first, but honestly every chapter here at osu has great things to offer. I hope you still come to love your sisters and become more comfortable. You can always still have friends in other chapters and your letters and phil. as well as sisters will come to mean more to you in time. Unless its actually that bad and you're very uncomfortable. Then don't feel terrible about dropping if it is actually terrible. But at least give them a chance first. Good luck!
