give up?

by:

So i got dropped from everything during formal. And now I'm wondering what the best way to get involved is. I Didn't get a snap bid. Should i email the recruitment chairs of the houses i liked a lot? Or does that seem to desperate? I know they might not do informal this spring, but maybe they can give me so info about fall. I really don't want to do formal again, and I'm already a sophomore, so can someone who went through informal explain how they found out and what they did?

Join the new sorority that will be here next spring. We will not know who it is until late fall, but it is worth a try. It can be very competitive depending how many women will want to join. If you still want to go through informal, then you should make friends in those sororities to see which one you like more. Then contact them about it.

last year like hundreds of people rushed zeta when they joined. might be like a lot more competitive, tho they will be taking a lot more girls than people's informal. I would do informal. If the houses you're trying to get into aren't doing informal then it will also be competitive in the fall. Maybe try to give other sororities that are doing informal this spring a try. Informal is chill because you just kinda show up and get to know people, you get to know people much better than the speed dating feel of formal. Nothing is too demanding or too binding. you can just go and if you really dont like them its still fine and you can always try to rush the ones you like in the fall if they are doing informal.

When will those doing informal this spring put out definite dates? I'm willing to go to any events for any house, I'd just like to know what i should be watching for. If not I'll try fall. I doubt I'll get into kappa next year, i got cut from every house this year...

I do not think it is kappa I heard it will be ADPi or Phi Mu. kappa should not come back for awhile after getting in trouble so much.

Do you know if they have a payment plan? Their new member dues won't set well with my parents (1500 compared to some of the 1150 ones). If not thats okay, I'd be willing to check it out and ask!

If your main/only concern is finances, you should go to an informal recruitment event and talk to someone! Ask them about it specifically. Any chapter will be happy to address your concerns and help you figure out if their chapter is right for you. If you ask important questions, it'll make them think you're serious about joining.

I think you should look into informal because you don't want to wait a whole year just for another opportunity to potentially not work out, but it's worth mentioning that when a new sorority comes to campus (next spring), they're going to be looking for girls of all ages, not just freshmen. So while you might be a junior, that might make it slightly less competitive for you since there won't be as many juniors trying to join a new sorority.

Keep in mind - if your grades are subpar, or you're well known for talking about the "B" topics, it may not happen for you at all. Very few chapters take grade risks. I know mine doesn't.

My gpa is fine (3.36) and i don't know the b topics, but i only talked about what they asked me. I think im just not memorable enough to make an impression. I want to get involved because i love the idea of giving back...

Oh i just looked up the b's. In which case i avoided those, unless you count saying my major as one of the b's. Im political science, for informal, should i not say that? Is that too close for comfort?

I think you should be fine since it's just your major and sororities are looking for girls with academic ambition. Just obviously don't start ranting about them lol
