informal
by: SoWhich houses hold informal requirement in fall? I missed the deadline for registration and I'm a sophomore. I'd love to get involved, just hopefully sooner rather than later.

Once total is reset in the fall, chapters will know if they can participate in informal. It will depend a lot on the number of seniors that graduate and how many members go inactive. Chapters with only a few openings may have invite-only parties (typically friends of members) and chapters with many openings will most likely have a couple of open events with one or two invite-only parties.
I remember last year (fall 2015)one chapter had 10 openings and over 150 girls showed up for open events. They had an invite-only party for about 50 and offered bids to 10. It's not necessarily easier or less competititive.
Right now, there is no way of knowing who will participate and how.

Contact the VP of Recruitment on PHA/Greek Office. That being said, only sororities under total can do informal recruitment in a few weeks, and most of the sororities that are eligible choose not to because of the effort involved. That being said, you may also be eligible for snap bids if you dropped out of formal recruitment or were not given a bid.
For fall informal, sign up at the involvement fair for open events. Private events may be held by sororities with only a few open spots, so you'll need to know people for that. But knowing people already in sororities is extremely helpful for recruitment in any semester
