If you go to pref round, you will get a bid. BUT, you can get cut from that one house before preference round.

Adding to that - if you maximize your options (so list all the houses you were invited to for pref round instead of leaving off one or two), you are guaranteed a bid. In fact, if you list all your houses, you mathematically have a better chance of getting into your top choice the way bid matching works, compared to if you only list your top choice.

So don't single intentional preference. It's better imo to wait a year and retry formal if you don't love your new house. But at least show up to bid day and give it a try. Trust the system.

Even if your bid isn't your first choice house, they obviously saw something special in you and will accept you. You should go to bid day and try it out and you have plenty of time before initiating to see if you feel at home there.

If you are maximizing your options and not being like mean or psycho you most likely won't get cut from all of them before pref. Going to pref isn't a guarantee that you'll get a bid somewhere but it is a huge indication that they like you and you can be pretty much in unless u screw up. Having one house for pref round happens more often than you think. These girls still usually end up with a bid.

As long as you maximize your options, PHA states you WILL get a bid if you had a house you went to on preference day. If you had multiple, it doesn't guarantee you'll get a bid from your top house, but it guarantees you'll get a bid front A house

If you are invited back to pref round, you ARE on the chapter's bid list, so you ARE guaranteed a bid on Bid Day as long as you maximize your options. There might be a way for them to remove you from the bid list if you turn out to be a complete psycho on bid day, but that doesn't really happen, so I promise that you are guaranteed a bid if you go to all the houses that invite you back to pref round next Sunday and then list all of them on your card.

So if you only have one house for pref round, congrats, that's where you're getting a bid to

Quota plus is the reason everyone that maximizes their options gets a bid by the way. Say quota is 60 - if all three of your houses fill all 60 spots before the software gets to your name (i.e. you were not ranked high enough by all 3 sororities) - you will still be placed in one of those houses as a quota addition. I forget if you get the sorority you ranked highest or the sorority that ranked you highest, but it's something like that. No one knows who the quota additions are, so don't worry about it. If any house has a pledge class above quota, that means they have quota additions. If you are interested in how bid matching works, you can find info on NPC's website.

Fair warning: There is a pretty heavy cut after sisterhood round. Don't assume going to sisterhood round means you're going to pref.

Each round, the cuts get more severe unfortunately. Just try not to take it personally. We don't have time to gossip about each girl individually - we just have to make blanket cuts based on certain attributes. We are all required by our HQ and PHA to cut a certain % of women. No house can take everyone. Just trust the system and don't fall too in love with any house. They're all great, I promise.
