There are automatic cuts for grades after the first round based on each chapter's national requirements. For example, if their national says they can't initiate anyone with a GPA under 2.8, anyone below that is cut now.
The second cuts are what are known as "grade risks". Using the above example, if you have a 2.9 and make it through to the next round, don't automatically assume they won't cut you again for grades. All things being equal, if you have 2 PNMs that come in with the same qualities (cute, involved, edgy, great personality, etc) but one has a 2.9 and the other has a 4.0, the lower GPA might be cut in any of the following rounds based on how they score you.
