bid times
by: StudentHow many events do you need to attend until a fraternity will express an interest in you? I see some guys get a bid right away and some guys go to a few events and then get one. When should you give up on a house and go for a different one?

Practically no one gives a bid to a guy the first time he attends. If you are unsure about your bid status, talk to the rush chairman. Tell him of your interest and ask him about your chances. There are still nine more dates before jump so plenty of time to visit a few fraternities and get bids. It will be easier at a smaller fraternity...the bigger ones (sae, sigma chi, sigep, lambda chi, phi psi and phi delt) will have more people to get through...so might take longer. What you don't know is how many times that guy who just got his bid has been in contact with them during the summer etc.
