can someone explain what sing is?

by: Clarify

What exactly is “sing” and what do pairings mean? I heard someone say only relevant houses get to participate so what does that mean?

Sweetie if you haven’t heard about sing my best guess is you’re in an irrelevant house.

Every mom’s weekend a show is performed. Teams are one frat with one sorority. They sing and dance. Google OSU Sing. The teams practice all winter term. My fav is the Funk show with Lambda and APhi from 2017. They won our year.

OSU has strict policies on bidding/inviting for sing partners. Or making the pairs. A house cannot bid another house they have been paired with already in the last 5 years. So Kappas, who were rumored to want a invitation, were ineligible since they’ve already been with Sigep in the last 5 years. Teams are maxed at 50 people total 25 guys/25 girls. Sororities typically want a frat that can field 25 freshmen. The bigger frats and sororities use freshmen...smaller frats use anybody. The top houses are on a 5 year rotation...same 5 partners etc. it’s rare when someone breaks the cycle and hard for a lower tier sorority like AOPi getting a bid from a top tier frat. This year SK was bid as a backup by Lambda. That’s huge for SK. Means they are a mid tier house now if they get bid by a top frat. Huge scandal this year...no partner for phi Delt or DU, phi psi got shut out with their kappa bid...

1. Stop your weird fixation with SK being mid. We all know where they are.
2. Not a huge scandal, some fraternities just didn’t get partners and that’s that. Nothing wrong with them, there’s just more fraternities than sororities and some would rather not do it than spend 4+ hours a week AND moms weekend with a sorority that they don’t connect well with.
3. Phi psi didn’t get shut out.

It’s a shutout when you don’t get your first pick imo. And a scandal when a house has ALWAYS been in and then isn’t. There isn’t a single fraternity that would “not” do it because they “didn’t” connect. This isn’t sorority rush.
